I am taking on the Black and White Mallorca Challenge along with 50 other riders in October this year.

I will be taking on this gruelling 3-day challenge which will see me cycling over 7hrs per day through mountainous terrain, which is a lot of time to spend on a saddle! We will cycle over 350kms in 3 days which will even push some of the most experienced cyclists to their limits.

Why am I doing this? I am raising money for the charity Props.

Props has a goal of creating a future where everyone who has a disability can do purposeful and rewarding work whilst contributing to their community.

Imagine your child born with a disability that meant having to go to a different school, not being able to enjoy a normal childhood, struggling to learn basic academic skills, not having the choices and opportunities of college and university, and not being able to fulfil their own childhood dream to be a vet, lorry driver, policeman or hairdresser due to something they were born with and is beyond their control.

When young adults with disabilities turn 19 and are no longer in full time education, there are very limited paths or opportunities for them, government funding is heavily reduced and many parents have to give up their own careers to look after their young adult full time. Many young people with disabilities would like their independence like anyone else, but this is not always possible as they are not given the opportunities to earn money to allow them to become more self-sufficient. We need to start being more diverse in the workplace. Props want to change this and do so – but they need to do more and this is only achievable by your donations to allow them to provide the skills, support and work opportunities that are currently no accessible for young people who have learning disabilities. Everything Props does has a benefit back to the local community and is embracing these very special people.

gift aid

Gift Aid is a remarkable initiative for those in the UK, enabling charities to reclaim the tax on your donation. By selecting the Gift Aid option, for every £10 you donate, it could be worth £12.50, at absolutely no extra cost to you! So, if you're a UK taxpayer, the next time you're at the checkout, consider ticking the Gift Aid box. Not only will you be contributing to a noble cause, but you'll also amplify the impact of your generosity. Remember, in order to Gift Aid your donation, you should be paying enough in income tax and/or capital gains tax each year to cover the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all your donations. It's essential to keep charities updated if there are changes in your tax status, name, or address. By embracing Gift Aid, you’re empowering charitable organizations to do even more remarkable work. Let’s make every penny count!
