Help support this cause!

On 17th December I’m taking part in a charity rowing challenge on the Bristol Harbour and would be hugely grateful if you could donate. The Row-Ho-Ho benefits two charities:

– PROPS, an amazing charity that supports adults with learning disabilities, giving them job training, career opportunities and experience in a variety of sport. Funds raised in last year’s Row-Ho-Ho helped PROPS to open a cafe providing a location for these opportunities, you can read more about it here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-67360470

– City of Bristol Rowing Club, a charity which aims to make rowing more accessible to the entire community by providing routes into the sport for both children and adults, including bursaries. I have personally benefitted from a club that provides a Learn to Row programme for adults, when many other clubs don’t, so it’s a cause close to my heart.

As many of you will have pointed out, I already row for enjoyment so to up the stakes, I am offering to take part in the charity races wearing as much terrible rowing kit as I possibly can. This includes items that are particularly personally offensive for a variety of reasons (long standing rivalries or principles, think along the lines of a City fan being made to wear a United shirt). So if you have any kit you think fits the bill and you would like to see me wear it, go ahead and pop a few ££ into the pot and send me a message, I’ll wear as much of it as I can!

Last year we raised over £6000 in total so we’d love to beat that and raise even more this year. Thank you for your donation 🙂

gift aid

Gift Aid is a remarkable initiative for those in the UK, enabling charities to reclaim the tax on your donation. By selecting the Gift Aid option, for every £10 you donate, it could be worth £12.50, at absolutely no extra cost to you! So, if you're a UK taxpayer, the next time you're at the checkout, consider ticking the Gift Aid box. Not only will you be contributing to a noble cause, but you'll also amplify the impact of your generosity. Remember, in order to Gift Aid your donation, you should be paying enough in income tax and/or capital gains tax each year to cover the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all your donations. It's essential to keep charities updated if there are changes in your tax status, name, or address. By embracing Gift Aid, you’re empowering charitable organizations to do even more remarkable work. Let’s make every penny count!
